Join our research team as a Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d) in bioinformatics with a specialized focus on RNA sequencing (RNA-seq). Your responsibilities:

    • Conduct advanced research focused on RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) data analysis.
    • Develop and implement bioinformatics pipelines for the processing and analysis of RNA-seq data. Design and optimize algorithms and software tools for RNA-seq data interpretation.
    • Stay current with advancements in new methodologies, incorporate them into the research workflow, and contribute to the department’s knowledge base through continuous learning and professional development.
    • Analyze and interpret high-throughput RNA-seq data to derive biological insights.
    • Integrate RNA-seq data with other omics data (e.g., genomics, proteomics) to provide a comprehensive view of biological systems.
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate bioinformatics and statistical approaches into biological research projects.
    • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in computer science, bioinformatics, computational biology, and related subjects.
    • Mentor and supervise students, guiding them in their research projects and helping them acquire the necessary computational skills.

Your profile:

    • Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Computational Biology, or a closely related field. Candidates in the final stages of obtaining their degree are eligible to apply.
    • Strong expertise in RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) data analysis.
    • Proficiency in bioinformatics tools and software for RNA-seq.
    • Proficient in programming languages and experience with Linux/Unix environments and high-performance computing.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen ability to interpret complex biological data.
    • Experience with statistical methods and their application to biological datasets.
    • Excellent communication skills (both written and spoken) in English; German a plus.
    • Experience in interdisciplinary team cooperation or a demonstrated willingness and ability to work in such a setting.
    • Enthusiasm for advancing knowledge in bioinformatics & RNA-seq and contributing to cutting-edge research.
    • Prior teaching or mentoring experience is a plus.

This position is initially funded for one year (full-time position, 40 hours per week), with a strong possibility of extension. Our goal is to fill this position for a longer duration, and we are actively working on securing extended funding.
