We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d) to join our cutting-edge genomics research team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to engage in groundbreaking research within a state-of-the-art wet lab environment located at the Leibniz Institute on Aging – Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI). The FLI houses numerous core facilities for genomics, proteomics, imaging and various other applications. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will design and execute advanced genomic experiments, develop innovative methodologies, and contribute to high-impact scientific discoveries. Your responsibilities:

    • Design and conduct experiments in genomics using advanced wet-lab techniques.
    • Develop and optimize protocols for DNA/RNA extraction, sequencing, and other genomic assays.
    • Collect and analyze high-throughput sequencing data.
    • Integrate genomic data with other omics datasets (e.g., transcriptomics, proteomics).
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including bioinformaticians, statisticians, and molecular biologists.
    • Oversee daily lab operations, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
    • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
    • Mentor and supervise junior researchers, technicians, and students, guiding them in their research projects and helping them acquire the necessary skills.

Your profile:

    • Ph.D. in genomics, molecular biology, genetics, or a closely related field. Candidates in the final stages of obtaining their degree are eligible to apply.
    • Extensive experience with wet-lab techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, and next-generation sequencing (NGS).
    • Proficiency in handling and preparing samples for genomic analysis.
    • Strong ability to analyze and interpret genomic data.
    • Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and software for data analysis is a plus.
    • Experience in designing and executing complex genomic experiments.
    • Excellent communication skills (both written and spoken) in English; German a plus.
    • Experience in interdisciplinary team cooperation or a demonstrated willingness and ability to work in such a setting.
    • Enthusiasm for advancing knowledge and contributing to cutting-edge research.
    • Prior teaching or mentoring experience is a plus.
