Your responsibilities:

    • Conduct pioneering research in (theoretical) computer science, statistics, and machine learning/AI.
    • Develop and enhance algorithms and models for complex data analysis and predictive modeling.
    • Explore novel approaches in AI to address research challenges and improve model performance.
    • Analyze large-scale and high-dimensional biological datasets to extract meaningful insights.
    • Apply statistical methods to validate models and interpret research findings.
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate computer science, machine learning, and statistical approaches into biological research projects.
    • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in computer science, bioinformatics, computational biology, and related subjects.
    • Mentor and supervise students, guiding them in their research projects and helping them acquire the necessary computational skills.

Your profile:

    • Ph.D. in (theoretical) Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a closely related field. Candidates in the final stages of obtaining their degree are eligible to apply.
    • Strong background in machine learning, AI, statistical modeling, and computational techniques.
    • Experience with deep learning frameworks.
    • Proficient in programming languages.
    • Experience in developing and implementing innovative algorithms and models.
    • Excellent communication skills (both written and spoken) in English; German a plus.
    • Experience in interdisciplinary team cooperation or a demonstrated willingness and ability to work in such a setting.
    • Enthusiasm for advancing knowledge in bioinformatics & RNA-seq and contributing to cutting-edge research.
    • Prior teaching or mentoring experience is a plus.

This position is initially funded for one year (full-time position, 40 hours per week), with a strong possibility of extension. Our goal is to fill this position for a longer duration, and we are actively working on securing extended funding.
