Your responsibilities:

- Lead and develop a junior research group focused on theoretical computer science, statistics, and machine learning/AI.
- Conduct pioneering research in (theoretical) computer science, statistics, and machine learning/AI.
- Develop and implement novel algorithms, models, and methodologies.
- Collaborate with national and international researchers and institutions.
- Foster interdisciplinary research initiatives within and outside the organization.
- Mentor and supervise PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and other junior team members.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in computer science, statistics, machine learning/AI, and related subjects.
- Oversee the administrative management of the research group.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.
Your profile:

- Ph.D. in (theoretical) Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a closely related field. Candidates in the final stages of obtaining their degree are eligible to apply.
- Strong background in machine learning, AI, statistical modeling, and computational techniques.
- Experience with deep learning frameworks.
- Proficient in programming languages.
- Experience in developing and implementing innovative algorithms and models.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and spoken) in English; German a plus.
- Experience in interdisciplinary team cooperation or a demonstrated willingness and ability to work in such a setting.
- Enthusiasm for advancing knowledge in bioinformatics & RNA-seq and contributing to cutting-edge research.
- Prior teaching or mentoring experience is a plus.
