We seek a highly organized and collaborative person to join our dynamic team as a scientific coordinator (m/f/d) of the Collaborative Research Centre VirusREvolution. The position is situated at Friedrich Schiller University Jena, a dynamic and innovation-driven university with a broad range of disciplines, and in the young and lively town Jena – the City of Science.

You will support the management and coordination of the ambitious Collaborative Research Centre VirusREvolution, which aims to develop novel tools for virus discovery, characterisation, regulation, interaction, and visualisation.

Your responsibilities:

  • Coordination, organisation, and support of internal communication and information flow, governance structures, member relations, personnel-related matters, travel arrangements, and stays of guest scientists
  • Organisation of scientific events (including meetings, symposia, retreats, workshops, and consortium-wide exchange formats) on three levels (within tandem projects, within project areas, and across project areas addressing overarching research questions) to ensure integrated scientific exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Implementation of measures to promote equal opportunities, diversity, and family-friendly structures within the CRC
  • Close  collaboration with coordinators and staff of the data management, virus support, and science communication projects as well as the Integrated Research Training Group, to ensure effective integration of administrative, scientific, and coordination tasks across all central units

Your profile:

  • Ph.D. in a natural science (preferably bioinformatics, virology, photonics, or related field)
  • Experience in science management, academic programme coordination, or event management in a university or research environment is of advantage
  • Familiarity with structured collaborative research projects is beneficial
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and English
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in an international and/or interdisciplinary working environment is beneficial
  • Ability to work independently, in an organised and structured manner, as well as collaboratively in a team, with initiative and a service-oriented mindset

The position is expected to commence in September or October 2026. It is a part-time position (50%, 20 hours per week), offered as a fixed-term position until 30 June 2030. A combination with other advertised part-time positions could be considered where feasible.
