Description
NCF2 encodes neutrophil cytosolic factor 2, the 67-kilodaltoncytosolic subunit of the multi-protein NADPH oxidase complex found inneutrophils. This oxidase produces a burst of superoxide which isdelivered to the lumen of the neutrophil phagosome. Mutations in thisgene, as well as in other NADPH oxidase subunits, can result inchronic granulomatous disease, a disease that causes recurrentinfections by catalase-positive organisms. Alternative splicingresults in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
For this gene only some expression in the human Marburg infected cells after23 h was observed.
