Description

Homo sapiens solute carrier family 3 (activators of dibasic and neutral amino acid transport), member 2 (SLC3A2), transcript variant 2 gene is a member of the solute carrier family and encodes a cell surface, transmembrane protein. The protein exists as the heavy chain of a heterodimer, covalently bound through di-sulfide bonds to one of several possible light chains. The encoded transporter plays a role in regulation of intracellular calcium levels and transports L-type amino acids. Alternatively spliced transcript variants, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized.

Upstream, in the human cells small nucleolar RNA host gene 1 (non-protein coding) (SNHG1), non-coding RNA locus, C/D-box snoRNAs are encoded. It is commonly known, that these ncRNAs do not regulate transcription. But we observed in the human cells genome an increase of expression rate: equal for MOCK, upregulated during Ebola infection and downregulated during Marburg infection.

A similar pattern is shown for the strongly expressed SLC3A2 gene in Ebola infected samples. It is 4 fold upregulated in 7 h to 23 h comparison, whereas the human cells MOCK samples show a lower and over time equal expression rate. In contrast, the bat cells transcriptome homologs are downregulated in the wildtype and upregulated during Ebola and Marburg (lower increase) infection.
