Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the transforming growth factor-beta (TGFB) superfamily. The encoded protein acts as a disulfide-linked homodimer and induces bone and cartilage formation. The gene is expressed at a moderate level in Hu7, but only slightly in bat. After 23 hours of Marburg infection, expression is downregulated, while it is upregulated in Ebola infection.
