Description
The OASL gene encodes the 2'-5'-oligoadenylate synthetase-like enzyme. It interacts with the ligand binding domain of the thyroid receptor and can bind MBD1. Displays antiviral activity against encephalomyocarditis virus (EMCV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) via an alternative antiviral pathway independent of RNase L.
It is not expressed in human cells or bat cells under any of the investigated conditions.
