Description
Homo sapiens DNA-damage-inducible transcript 4.
REDD1 (regulated in development and DNA damage responses 1, DDIT4) was identified as a \update activator that upon increased expression is able to suppress AKT1 signaling as well as mTor signaling pathways [Gu et al., Blood, 2014, 123:3269-3276; Ellisen, Cell Cycle, 2005, 4:1500-1502]. Vesicular stomatitis virus and influenza virus were shown to be inhibited by chemical inhibitors inducing REDD1 expression and the resulting mTORC1 inhibition. Reduction of viral replication was rescued by using REDD1 deficient cells [Mata \emph, 2011, 7:712-719].
The human transcript is upregulated in later time points in mock infected and Marburg virus infected data but not in Ebola.
